Join the Fab Academy
Fab Lab Manchester will be opening its doors to inventors and entrepreneurs who want to become experts in digital design and fabrication.
The Fab Academy is an intensive 19 week Diploma-level programme starting 22nd January 2014, where people can design and make various projects, working alongside Fab Labs from across the globe via video link.
Taught by world-renowned scientist, inventor and Fab Lab founder, Professor Neil Gershenfeld from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Academy allows people to develop and demonstrate their skills through hands-on assignments ranging from computer-aided design, electronics, computer-controlled machining and moulding and casting composites.
The course, designed for anyone who wants to learn the skills and processes to fabricate their ideas, takes place at Fab Lab Manchester, the facility which gives entrepreneurs the tools to bring new product concepts to life. Previous students have ranged from artists, photographers and radio enthusiasts to machine designers, mobile phone service developers and even submarine engineers.
