Roland Modela MDX-20 desktop miller
The MDX-20 from Roland allow ideas to take shape. Easy-to-use and compatible with many popular 3D CAD software programs, the MDX-20 is an all-in-one scanning and milling device, perfect for a variety of product design tasks.
The Modela is a versatile desktop miller capable of making anything from circuit boards to moulds. The milling spindle unit turns the machine into a full-featured CNC mill, capable of cutting jeweller’s wax, resins, chemical wood, acrylic and even light metals such as brass and aluminium.
Take control of your design work. Utilising the Roland Active Piezo Sensor (RAPS) technology, the MDX-20 is transformed into a 3D scanner for scanning 3D objects and creating 3D data.

Hints and tips
- When milling a pcb and setting the Z zero position, press the down button gradually and put your hand on the table. You can feel the vibrations of the machine once the tip of bit touches the surface of the copper.
- When creating mill and drill files on Eagle you have to set the XY zero position of the PCB. You can include this parameter in the name of the file for reusing it in the future.
